HERETIC

RUDE BWOY PLASTIC | 119 CREW | ZULU NATION

Heretic’s 16-year career in Jungle / Drum and Bass has been founded upon a single mantra – move the crowd. One of the earliest proponents of the sound in Los Angeles, his legendary performances in the mid-late 90’s Rave era influenced en entire generation of DJ’s, producers and partygoers and undoubtedly helped build the So Cal scene from its early beginnings deep in the underground to a full fledged constituent of the Rave pantheon. In 1997, Heretic along with 119 Crew mates Josh Swissman and Golgo 13 were signed to Suburban Base USA (subsidiary of legendary hardcore/jungle pioneer label Suburban Base, which spawned the likes of DJ Hype, DJ Rap, Krome and Time and countless others) and released the seminal mix album “California Drum and Bass”, which at the time helped to bring global awareness to the growing West Coast jungle scene. In 1999, Heretic produced his first single – the classic “Bunn The Sensi” featuring the one and only Top Cat, which became an instant hit and propelled his imprint Rude Bwoy Plastic into the forward ranks of global drum and bass with its signature ragga / hip hop / urban fusion sound. Rude Bwoy Plastic remains one of the best selling drum and bass labels in the world, and continues to release its signature dancefloor smashers to a global fan base.

Heretic’s sound continues to evolve, and as demonstrated on his latest mix album “Pull Up Selector”, he effortlessly fuses dubstep, jungle and drum and bass together into a unique journey that showcases his eclectic track selection, technical mastery, and surgical scratch technique.

Make sure to grab yourself a copy of "Pull Up Selector" as this will be the official CD release party!!!

JOSH MAYHEM

SPLICE || LA | ENSON CRUSHA | FRESH INK | LGIT | KUBI

From his early teenage years Josh Mayhem grew an everlasting bond with music. Having picked up a guitar at the age of 14, he knew that music would be a driving force in his life. Fueled by the influence of such bands as Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, and many other popular bands of the era, Josh knew he wanted something else just as grimey as the alternative music he had grown to love. That's when, by chance, he was introduced to the Los Angeles electronic music scene in early 1997. Quickly, he became intrigued with this unique sub culture, frequenting raves and dance clubs alike.
Having done his share of promoting, it wasn't until 2000 when Josh started a prop company, Visual Mayhem, that designed stage props for Insomniac’s Electric Daisy Carnival and B3 Cande’s JujuBeats. That same year he was introduced to turntables, and fittingly became “Josh Mayhem”. In the summer of 2004 Josh broke into the LA Drum & Bass DJ circuit, where he and a group of artists from the San Fernando Valley came together to host an event that would open the floodgates of the SFV Drum & Bass movement. In keeping true to the cause, the team consisting of DJ’s Jo-S, Frayed Knot, Concise, Aware, Josh Mayhem and MC’s Bypass & MCMC decided to name the event after the SFV area code: 818, where Josh became a resident DJ. This event also sparked off the Grapevinez organization, a production company well known for significantly hightening the awarness of Drum & Bass in Los Angeles.
Since then, Josh has frequently played at such well known Drum & Bass clubs and parties such as Respect, History, Legendz, Champion Sounds, Stateside, Legacy, I Love LA, Adrenaline, Muse, Refuge, Trust, Timeless, Upgrade and countless others playing alongside the likes of Pendulum, DJ Craze, Fierce, Potential Bad Boy, J. Majik, Wickaman, Soul Slinger, Hive, Echo, AK1200, Dara, Gridlok, Reid Speed, and Faust and Shortee to name just a few. In late 2006 Josh’s close friend DJ Kemizt brought him on board as a resident / co-promoter for Splice LA, a monthly club held at the Mountain Bar in Chinatown, and more recently at Club Good Hurt in West LA, having a tremendous following. Josh has also become sponsored and affiliated with Fresh Ink Clothing, Different Breed Clothing, and Kubi Snowboards.
Josh has recently broadened his horizons by diving into the world of producing, forming “Enson Crusha” with well known Los Angeles Producer/ DJ Devoe. Their unique and fresh approach to production has lead them to create the dancefloor smasher “The Pumpkin Song, ” inspired by Tim Burtons “The Nightmare Before Christmas, ” a mremix of the classic Makai tune "Beneath The Mask", as well as many other projects in the works that are sure to leave you begging for more.
With his cleverly programmed mix CD’s and high energy live DJing, his experience as a promoter and event coordinator, and now his collaborations in music production, you can be sure that you will see this artist continue to make his impact on the Stateside Electronic Music scene and beyond.
Hide your children.
