***:::BASSMECHANIC:::*** (Funk The System, SD)
As a San Diego favorite for over 12 years, Brian Porterfield aka BASSMECHANIC, began his musical journey in 1996 playing Trance and House music as Brian Porterfield, opening for Christopher Lawance, Sandra Colins, Thomas Michael, RITM, Jackal, J-break, Dj Icey and DJ Fixx to name a few. In 2001 D&B caught his ear, and he began to incorporate this new sound into his sets, effectively bringing D&B to a new audience. In 2004 BASSMECHANIC (Brian Porterfield’s D&B, Break Beat, Electro, DubStep alter ego) came to be. In 2009 he produced FUNK THE SYSTEM! a monthly event in San Diego dedicated to BREAKS, ELECTRO and DUBSTEP. Featuring artists such as Uberzone, Bassbin Twins, Excision, Datsik, Subvert, An-ten-nae, Dieselboy, Oscure to name a few. BASSMECHANIC has been playing his brand of Breaks, Electro and Dubstep that’s become recognized throughout Southern California. Hard, funky, bottom heavy, facemeltin’ Breaktrostep.
***:::HEADSHAKE:::*** (Mintphonic/TheMixter.com)
DJ Joseph “Headshake” Maldonado is credited by much of the dubstep community as being a big force behind the genre’s growing popularity in San Diego. Having established a sizable following spinning electro, indie dance, and dutch house, much of Headshake’s fanbase made the crossover to dubstep with him this May, at El Dorado’s monthly Dub Dorado night.
***:::TRYXX:::*** (Organized Grime / Sub-Mission)
Michael Eterovich aka TryX, is known throughout Southern California as a high energy DJ with a filthy tune selection. Starting his DJ career in 2005 in warehouse rave parties in LA, San Bernardino, San Diego, and Mexico. His double impact style of mixing drum and bass soon made an impact in the underground rave culture where his roots first sprung. Since then he has played along side world class DJs from around the world. These days you can find him cranking out the filthiest dubstep around in his grimey bass consumed mash-ups. Resident for Organized Grime, keep your eye out for this talented DJ, he is sure to keep your ears filled with some nasty
frequencies!
