-- About the Artists --

* WELDER *

Brendan Angelides, aka Welder, is a California based artist more widely known in the music community as Eskmo. With releases under the latter guise on the labels of Ninja Tune, Warp and Planet Mu, he has gained notable transatlantic recognition from the likes of BBC Music (“mind-melting invention…”), URB (“Simply destroys the soundsystem..”) and FACT (“Fascinating example of the intersection of organic and electronic.”) amongstmany others.

Welder explores a different side of the sonic and emotional spectrum. “Florescence” is Brendan’s 2nd album under this persona (the first being a low key release in 2006 entitled “Vines and Stream” on Cyberset; a local SF based label.) While Eskmo traverses hi fi, twisted and bright outward explorations, Welder paints with washed lo fi instrument based ingredients, organic and digital.Weathered piano, warm strings, vintage drums, mandolins, synths and electric bass color the album. All the songs have a noticeable focus on recording room environments and the imperfections in the recording process, resulting in a very human, introverted yet gently playful experience.

* SUGARPILL *

Specializing in bouncing bass, sideways beats and experiments of noise, Sugarpill is a master of both the creation and delivery of polytemponic glitch bass. Sugarpill seamlessly merges his techy and immaculate production skills without ever losing the inherent sexiness of the beats, and his multidimensional musical approach unites EDM fans across a vast spectrum of genres and tempos. His original tracks combined with explosive live DJ sets confirm for the producer a powerful spot at the forefront of West Coast future sound.

* SAQI *

The Bay area-based artist saQi is a classically trained composer, producer and trumpet player. Drawing his name from the Sufi title for a mystic muse, saQi creates eclectic electronica that maintains a balance between organic and synthesized sound. His live sets rock the dance floor while maintaining a grace and musical depth to engage the listener. The music is never limited by genre, tempo or any other stylistic elements. Allegiance to the creative flow and its truest expression thereof is saQi's manifesto.

* Live Painting by MICHAEL PUKAC *

Michael Pukac, Alabama born and Los Angeles based artist has quickly established himself as one of the more prolific live painters as well as made a name for himself by exhibiting constantly and relentlessly throughout the LA art community. His unique blend of seductive, classical imagery is cross pollinated with a witty, contemporary edge of subtle satire – all doused in reflective paint.
